It’s our 2nd birthday and we find the country back facing intensified Covid-19 restrictions.

We need to take stock of what’s happened so far this year. A slow, but welcome reopening of the economy, brought many challenges to us all.

What we could or couldn’t do?
The work done by the builder hasn’t been completed?
Where we could or couldn’t go?
New controls on travel, engagement and entertainment.
Where to find a contractor?
Change of Dress code?
Moving back to the workplace?

We felt we were making good progress, until the number of reported Covid cases started to spike again, from a low of 269 to a daily rate of more than 4,500 in mid-November. The Government had to respond and we find ourselves in, as they describe it, “an appropriate response” to the unfolding situation.

The result:

The move to limit the opening hours of hospitality (less than a month after nightclubs had reopened following 19 months of being closed)
Widening the use of the Covid certificates across society
Anyone living in a household with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 will be asked to restrict their movements for five days and complete 3 antigen tests during this period
Once again, we’re advised to work from home unless it is “absolutely necessary to attend in person"

Uncertainty abound.
